CCM Celebrates the Music of Schmidt and Jones
Last Thursday, I attended an intimate concert in the Gorno Library featuring some of the CCM’s finest musical theatre talent. Craig Dalton, a musical director graduate student, arranged and accompanied the singers along with Rachel Miller on harp.
It’s good timing to celebrate these two – Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones – as CCM prepares to stage 110 IN THE SHADE next weekend. This along with THE FANTASTICKS are two of their better known works.
Students Jackson Mattek, Cameron Hill, John Battagliese, Kyra Christopher, Zach Ernhardt, Louis Griffin, Hannah Kornfeld, Tom Meglio, Hamilton Moore, Kimberly Pine, and Casey Wenger-Schulman delighted the small crowd with their vocal stylings. It was such a pleasant experience.
I am very excited to see what director Vince DeGeorge does with the rarely performed 110 IN THE SHADE in the Studio Theatre next weekend. You should call the box office Monday at noon at 513-556-4183 or lineup to get your two free tickets for the production.
110 IN THE SHADE plays in the Cohen Studio Theatre at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music next weekend. Tickets are free but reservations are required. Limit two per order.
