FRINGE REVIEW: Shirtzencockle
Where do we start with SHIRTZENCOCKLE? These Fringe veterans – the Performance Gallery – sort of embody the spirit of Fringe’s avant garde style and flair. I didn’t get it, really, but I’m not sure there is a lot to get with this mishmashed fairy tale.
An original piece composed by the Ensemble, this is several fables told with flowy language, humor, and good nature. And its weird, perhaps too weird for many, but I don’t think the artists involved are expecting tons of commercial success.
Instead, I imagine at least, that they want to tell stories, perform them, and enjoy one another’s company. And isn’t that what a true Ensemble should be?
SHIRTZENCOCKLE runs once more, Wed, June 3 @ 7:35PM, as part of the Cincinnati Fringe Festival. Click here for tickets and more information.
